During a quick grocery run at Longo’s a few weeks ago, I had to do the obligatory peek in the floral section. It didn’t take long for me to spot the most gorgeous arrangement of dried wheat stems. I knew this would make for the perfect fall home decor accent. I can’t quite explain it, but my heart instantly felt warmer and I just knew it belonged in the condo. I had no idea where I would place it, but I was so drawn to it and made sure it came home with me. Many subway passengers gazed over it, probably trying to figure out what possessed me to bring this along during rush hour. There were also some passengers who exchanged a soulful smile with me when they saw what I was holding. I couldn’t wait to reach home and try placing it in different parts of our condo.
It was originally tied with twine but I decided to use brown ribbon instead, for a more polished look. You could also use burlap to finish it off with a rustic look. Just be sure it’s tied tight and you’re good to go.
Placed on the dining table.
Placed on the coffee table. I love how the wheat tone looks and feels against our white couch.
You could also place it standing on the floor, perhaps surrounded by small pumpkins or candles. You could occasionally pull out a few wheat stems from the bunch and use them in your tablescapes. Whichever way you style it, you can be sure it will make quite the statement in your home. The best part about a dried wheat sheaf is that it will never go bad. You could use it year after year, adding the perfect warmth to your space.
